About IPPA
The International Piano Professionals Association (IPPA), based in the United States, founded by Dr. Ivy Lu Wang, is a leading organization in the world of piano education and performance. Under the leadership of world-class piano pedagogue Dr. Scott McBride Smith, it is dedicated to advancing the piano profession through the organization of piano competitions, festivals, pedagogy conferences, concerts, teacher training, piano masterclasses, and the fostering of international piano exchange programs.
IPPA’s mission is to establish the most international academic platform for piano professionals. With a global membership, comprising pianists and piano teachers from around the world, IPPA unites a diverse and passionate community of individuals committed to the piano performance and education field.
About the IPPA Conero International Piano Competition
The IPPA Conero International Piano Competition has drawn over 1000 pianists from 30+ countries in the past 5 years. Organized by the IPPA, this event features 8 divisions and spans 19 regions worldwide, with in-person locations in Canada, the US, and China, as well as other countries including the United Kingdom, Indonesia, Paraguay, Brazil, and Argentina. The final round is a global competition that offers pianists from around the world an opportunity to come together to showcase their talent on the international stage.
The final competition directly leads into the piano pedagogy conference, which is open to college students, piano teachers, and pedagogy scholars to participate.
