Peggy Yip
Ms. Peggy Yip, Vice President of the Pacific International Youth Music Society and a founding member, brings extensive knowledge and experience to the organization. In addition to her leadership role, she contributed her expertise as a piano advisor to the Richmond Music Festival Society in the past and holds the Royal Conservatory of Music Piano and Theory Advanced Specialist designation.
Her journey as a pianist began in Hong Kong under the mentorship of Ms. Helen Wong and Ms. Emily See Ming Lam. Upon moving to Canada, she continued her studies with Ms. Ildiko Skeldon. As a young musician, Ms. Yip received many awards and accolades in Hong Kong Music Festivals and Canadian competitions, including a music scholarship from the Richmond Community Arts Council. Pursuing her Bachelor of Music Degree at the University of British Columbia under Dr. Terrance Dawson, she furthered her training with internationally acclaimed pianist, Dr. Henri-Paul Sicsic.
With over 30 years of experience, Ms. Yip has shared her expertise as a pianist, collaborator, and mentor. Her dedication to teaching has inspired countless students to become versatile, well-rounded musicians. Operating a successful private music studio in Richmond, BC, she plays an instrumental role in shaping the next generation of talent and has guided students to excel in recognized piano competitions in Canada and the United States. Notable achievements include success in the Canadian Music Competition, Taiwan Piano Competition, Seattle Young Artist Music Festival, Seattle International Piano Competition, Canada Steinway Piano Competition, IPPA Conero
International Piano Competition, Royal Conservatory of Music’s Music Lights the Way Piano Festival, Gold Medals in the Royal Conservatory Examinations, and performances at New York City’s Carnegie Hall, to name a few.
